Libraries in Melbourne to study at

Melbourne has some great libraries where you can study and find books to help you study.

The library at RMIT is available for all RMIT Training students. You can find it in Building 10, Level 5 (enter through Swanston St). You can borrow books once you have your student card.

The State Library is in the city opposite RMIT University. You can’t borrow books there, but you can make use of the quiet space and free Wi-Fi.

The City Library is in Flinders Lane, near Degraves Street (try a coffee from one of their cafes!). You can borrow books here once you have a library card. It is open until 8pm Monday to Thursday, 6pm on Friday and 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.

You can join free conversation classes at the City Library.

Library at the Dock is the latest addition to the City of Melbourne’s library services. To borrow books from the library you will need to register for a library card using your photo ID and something that lists your address (like an electricity bill).
