RMIT Training extends Foundation Studies delivery to students in their home country

RMIT Training has successfully formed six new partnerships to deliver the RMIT Foundation Studies program on their campuses in 2018 or early 2019. Some partners will also offer an intensive English language course as pre entry into Foundation Studies.

RMIT Foundation Studies is now available in Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Cambodia and China, in addition to Melbourne, with all locations offering a pathway to RMIT University in Melbourne or Vietnam, or any other Australian university.

Offshore delivery is part of RMIT Training’s vision to be an outstanding pathways provider, enabling entry in to bachelor degree programs regardless of where students reside or commence their learning journey.

RMIT Training CEO, Rachel Holthouse shared how important it is for students to have the opportunity to study in their home country before travelling overseas for their higher education.

“We feel privileged to partner with organisations, who like us, are committed to student learning and providing a safe and nurturing environment for young learners as they prepare for university,” she said.

“For many students, having the direct support of their family and friends at this early stage is extremely important.

"Opening up our delivery locations also offers opportunities for our educators who deliver our pathways programs. By establishing a strong collaboration we are no longer limited by geography and educators can learn from each other’s expertise.”

RMIT Foundation Studies offers both discipline specific streams that lead into one of RMIT’s Colleges and a General Foundation Studies stream which allows students more flexibility to select their preferred discipline.

There are two sites offering the Program in Colombo, Sri Lanka—Sri Lanka Technological Campus (SLTC) and International College of Business & Technology (ICBT).

SLTC is a fully owned subsidiary of Sri Lanka Telecom, one of the country's largest companies. They are delivering the Science stream with a focus on Engineering, allowing students to articulate into various degree programs in Melbourne and Vietnam.

ICBT delivers Certificate, Diplomas, pre-University, Undergraduate and Masters’ level programs in association with leading universities and educational service providers in the UK. ICBT will offer a General Foundation Studies stream where students can articulate into Business and Science based higher education programs.

The program will also be offered in China through Admiral Farragut Academy Tianjin and Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NUST). Admiral Farragut Tianjin is an independent school offering a bi-lingual US Florida state curriculum at Years 10-12 and will deliver a General Foundation Studies stream.

Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NUST) is a National Key University under the Chinese Government's Project 211. They will be offering the Business and Science streams.

Zaman University is the delivery partner in Cambodia and is a part of the larger Zaman Co Ltd Group which also comprises an international school and kindergarten. The University is licensed to offer Bachelor degrees in Business, Information and Communications Technology and Engineering. They are working with RMIT to deliver the Business stream of Foundation Studies.

The Malaysian partner is Kingsley International School, part of the Kingsley Education Group comprising Kingsley College, Kingsley Language House, Kingsley Skills College and Kingsley Professional. It is a K-12 British curriculum school offering IGCSE, O Level and A Level, founded in 2010.
